“First GOW2t to debut in October!”

Today ebstone.com | redrumskippy.com are pleased to announce the first, of many, Gears Of War 2 Tournaments aka GOW2t. The battle will take place over a three day period, with the first rounds beginning on Friday October 23rd from 9pm est till 12 midnight. Saturday October 24th from 9pm till 11pm est will serve as an additional practice round for gamers who make it through the first round and will be entering the final stage of the competition (If there are more then 9 registered gamers, Saturday night from 9pm to 12am est will serve as a second session to make the final round). The final round, which includes the awarding of the overall winner of the tournament, will take place Sunday October 25th starting at 9pm est.

Rock The Vote : Gears Style
Gamers will be required to register to take part in the tournament. Part of that registration process will be to choose / vote on their 5 favorite maps, 3 Favorite game modes (excluding Execution & Horde), and last but not least, their 5 favorite weapons. This gives each gamer a unique opportunity to be a part of the process that determines how they will proceed in their quest to eliminate the competition in the tournament. Participants are advised to not fill in just any answer in the provided registration form, but perhaps take some time plan out their long term assault over the period of the entire tournament, not just one phase of it. Registration for GOW2t begins at 12a on September 25, 2009

Time To Shake The Sand Out
There is no doubt, the gamers coming to this tournament have amassed many hundreds of hours in Gears Of War 2. We have seen the student, become the master on any number of maps with any number or weapons. Its been a proving ground for the age old additive that “practice makes perfect”. In the weeks and days leading up to the tournament, there will be several sessions dedicated to tournament practice. This will include specially nights of training with a variety of weapon sets that will all be a part of and included throughout tournament. Participants are heavy encourage to plan on being at these practice sessions, especially if they need to hone their skills with a certain weapon on any given map.

More Than The No Skill Kill
For the most part, many gamers who will take part in the tournament have isolated themselves to the Execution mode of Gears Of War 2. This tournament will be VERY different. Gamers will be required to participate, score in multiple modes. Organizers have established an element of play known as “Every Other Mode” as part of one unique twists to the competition. When looked at closely, one will realize that its going to take alot more then sticking someone with a “nade” to be the best. Of the rounds within the tournament, ONLY every other round will be execution. Yet another reason to part take in the practice sessions in the weeks before the tournament. This adds an additional element to the way the tournament will unfold and be played. Gamers who perhaps lack skills in one mode, will need to step it up a level in modes they have mastered. This tournament is not to award the best player in one mode of the game, but in ALL MODES of the game! The last man standing in the end, will surely erase any doubt among their fellow competitors that they are limited in their skill set.

There Is No “I” In Team, Or Is There?
Although the task at hand is for one person to stand above all others at tournaments end, team play will be key on their way to the top of the pile. One of the more unique twist to this tournament is that gamers must earn the most points in a single round, as well as your team must win that round, in order for your points to count! For example, if you score the most points in any given round, BUT, your team loses that round, you receive NO POINTS towards your personal total. Adding still another level of how a gamer approaches his overall journey to be the best of the best.

Things Arent Always As They Appear
The tournament brings together many different facets of the Gears Of War 2 universe. It has some unique gameplay combinations, together with a limited amount of rules to enhance the competitors experience. Its going to take more then a run n’ gun mentality to be the best. Those who plan well, stand alone in the end. Gamers are going to have to watch closely, how the members of the opposite team work together, or abandon that very teamwork for the possibility of obtaining the golden ring for themselves. The risks are huge, strategy will be perhaps play an even more important role then the skill one processes. Choose maps, modes and weapons wisely fellow gamers … The road ahead is not as easy as it looks …

Lack of preparation will lead to one thing, and one thing only … The Beatdown!
